Who, what, when & where… and, oh yes, probably a credit card number.

Should organized religions make accommodations for gender equality?

    Inspired from the same person.
Thank you for your contribution Patois. A million is a little high don’t you think?

Thanks again, you accidently answered my next question.

Thanks again, you accidently answered my next question.

No, I don’t think so, unless they want to. Sexual equality in government is one thing, but religions run themselves. No one has to be a part of them. You can always start your own religion with your own rules

What are the best motels to stay in on route from NY to LA?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under motels | 6 Comments »

I am planning a cross country trip from New York to Los Angeles and wondered where the best motels, cheap hotels, scenic routes and even best places to visit are? Thanks.

TripAdvisor.com has lists of hotels along with comments from past guests.

You can get route info from AAA if you’re a member, and if you’re planning a cross-country drive it would be a good idea to join.

Places to visit are detailed in guidebooks such as Frommer’s, Fodor’s, Lonely Planet, etc, either printed or on line. Or at websites for the cities you plan to visit.

Should we reconfigure our new house to make a great room?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under house | 2 Comments »

We just bought a house and its pretty old.. currently you walk through a small hallway into a living room.. to the right is a master bedroom, and the left side is divided into a kitchen and bathroom on left side and 2 smaller bedrooms (one after another) on the right side. (so, the kitchen has a door opening to one bedroom). We are thinking about taking down the wall to connect the bedroom to the kitchen as well as take a portion of the preceding bedroom also to make a "great" room. But if this is done, the new bedrooms will be at the front of house, and person entering will have to walk down a hallway to get to the back of the house to a living area. Is this a good idea? or should we keep it the way it is?? oh, we are also planning on adding french doors to the back of the house (at the back of the new "great" room) which will open to a new deck and the big backyard. will it make property difficult to sell if entry is to a long hallway?
i forgot to add that our driveway runs the length of the house. We would probably park our car at the end of the driveway and use the rear deck to "great" room entrance 99% of the time

It all depends on how you want to live. Walking down a long hallway shouldn’t make a difference in the value as long as the destination is spectacular. Is there a way to have a window placed at the end of the long hallway in the new room? If so, it should look out onto really pretty landscaping.

What are the most beautiful New England towns?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under england | 2 Comments »

My friend and I are planning on moving to New England in the next couple of years. We have some ideas but want to know what everyone thinks are the most beautiful/special towns in New England. All 5 states! We are also obsessed with Autumn and Halloween so any town that has festivities at that time are a plus! *We all know Salem* Thanks!

The most beautiful part of the region is in the Connecticut River Valley, especially the Massachusetts section, as it is much less developed than the Connecticut section. You want to look at the towns of Hadley, South Hadley, Hatfield, Amherst, Northampton, Easthampton, Whatley, Deerfield and that general vicinity.

Other pretty areas include the area around Newport RI, the Berkshire hills of Massachusetts, and the White Mountains of NH

I should also point out that there are 6 New England States: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

I also feel it is fair to warn you in advance that the weather in New England is not particularly pleasant, especially in the wintertime. In fact, winters here are downright nasty

What is a good Hostel in London, if I am flying in to LHR airport?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under hostel | 3 Comments »

I am planning to travel to London in May and stay for 5 nights. What is a good hostel that has a good location in London? I really don’t know what there is to do and see in London, so I just want a nice hostel that is really cheap and located conveniently to public transportation and LHR.

    Palmers Lodge

Great hostel, with a very good cleanliness. Great value for the money. Though I would recommend this hostel for those who are only there for doing the tourist stuff. Great security and quite quick to get to.

    St. Christopher’s Inn – Southbank

The hostel was in a good location, a very short walk from the tube. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and full of suggestions. All in all it made it a nice place to be, even though we were only there for the one night.
