To Uni Students who live on ur own, do you find it easier to study at Uni or back at your own accomodations?

It’s so much easier to study at home. When I’m most comfortable, things click better for me.

My Great grandfather was a Mason in Detroit. I just do not know what the lodge number he was a member to. I am trying to join the eastern star and the form asks for the number. Can anyone help?

Do you happen to know the name of the Lodge he belonged to? That would be the easiest way to find out. The Lodge might even have a website you could find if you did a web search of the name. But it’s also possible the Lodge has "gone dark" (closed). Many Lodges have lost membership and surrendered their charters or merged with other Lodges.

The answerer directing you to the Grand Lodge of Michigan is on the right track, because they should have all the records. But I’d like to amend her answer and say the more information you have when contacting the Grand Lodge, the better. Do you know the name of the Lodge he belonged to? Do you know the dates when he took his Degrees, or at least the year(s)? His birthday? How about the neighborhood where his Lodge was located, or where he lived/worked (he probably belonged to a Lodge near where he lived or worked, but that’s not a guarantee). The more information you can provide to help narrow down their search, the better the chances of finding the answer…because they probably have MOUNTAINS of records they would have to sift through, especially since records relating to your Great Grandfather are probably sitting in a filing cabinet and haven’t been entered into a computer.

There’s also a chance you might find the answer yourself by searching through his old things. When he was raised to Master Mason, your great-grandfather would have received a diploma. The name of the Lodge along with its number should be on that diploma.

A business loan can cover capital expenses and operating expenses of a business. The key question is: Will you be approved for a loan?

Getting a business loan is NOT easy – especially with the tough economic climate.

You just don’t go to a bank to ask for a loan with only your business idea. Banks look at other factors not just your credit score when applying for a business loan. Banks want to see:

- demonstrated ability of the business to generate revenues — businesses that are already operating and have at least 2 years’ worth of financial statements that demonstrate strong profitability. Business ideas are just ideas; not proven to generate profits

- ability to repay the loan through collaterals and assets

- solid management team: they want to know that the business will be run by someone who knows what they are doing

- excellent credit history

- your investment in the business: they want to see that you believe in your business enough to put down your own money into the business

If you have the above, then prepare a business plan. – The business plan is NOT the first thing banks want to see. It’s important, but banks will need to see your ability to repay the loan. Sometimes, they won’t even bother to read your business plan if they know you don’t have any money. If you have to have a business plan, you need a good executive summary (as that is what they’re most likely read, if at all) PLUS solid, realistic financial projections/plans
