When the flight is off the ground, make use of the ability to walk around. Use a pillow under your legs, and make sure you stretch and rotate your feet constantly. Sitting in different positions helps too. As for your sons fear of flying, there are tons of things to do to keep his mind off it. A good book, games...even some herbal remedies that can help calm him, like melatonin. Check with his doctor first though. Talk to the flight staff before take off, perhaps they have a good idea on how to keep him busy. My oldest son is terrified of flying, so badly that we have to use Xanax on him. He is over 25 years old, but still has terrible flight anxiety. For some it never goes away. It is best to try to make this flight a fun time for your son. My youngest is allot like me in that we love the power of the take off and landing. The thrill of it ! My oldest will rock and rock and just be miserable the whole time. Find some books for your son on flying, and things to do for him in the air. I don&#039;t know how long your flight will be, but it is always better to have something for your hands to do. A game boy or  hand held toy, once the Pilot says it&#039;s OK. For your back, there are things you can do too. A hot pack, like the ones you find in the pharmacy, and a nice firm rolled up blanket behind you. It is what I have to do. I have problems with my back and legs, and cannot afford to fly first class...one day I hope to.it sounds lovely. You might want to take your medication before you take off.
