Does the professor have a right to deny the student those accommodations for the remainder of the semester/session ?
I was under the impression that the office of disability had already notified him before hand. But that turned out not to be the case.

You have to give reasonable notice that you require accommodation. A story from my past: I was a teaching assistant for a class, and part of my job was to grade all of the papers and tests. I had a policy of not accepting late exams (clearly with an exception for students who had gone through the disabilities office and gotten an accommodation plan). One student failed to inform me of this accommodation and didn’t turn the paper in on time. The professor hadn’t said anything to me either. It was by accident that I found out the student required extra time on papers.

The simple fact of the matter is that people can’t accommodate you if they don’t know you need the accommodations. As an adult, it is your responsibility to make sure you get what you need. If that means you need special accommodations in classes, or you think you might, it is your responsibility to follow your school’s procedures for having a plan drawn up and then notifying your professors that you need the accommodations in a timely manner.

ETA: In every school I have attended, the responsibility for notifying the professor has fallen on the student. It’s also something you might want to make a habit of doing in the future just in case, because even if the policy at your school is for the office to notify the professor, mistakes happen.

Why are accommodations so expensive and require a minimum stay?

accommodations

I was planning a day trip to a city about 250 miles away, but would require an overnight stay. Some places require a minimum 3-night stay. One B&B said their rate was $300 and I figured that was for a week – WRONG! That was just for one night! When my dad was alive and the family traveled, it was considered a lot to charge $20 a night at the Holiday Inn. Where do they get off charging these exorbitant rates?

It’s called supply and demand.
If they weren’t getting $300 per night and requiring you to stay 3 nights, they wouldn’t be charging this much. But since they are and are still in business, it sounds like a good business decision on their part.

Obviously, where you want to go is a big tourist destination. Look for places nearby that are not as desirable and you will find less expensive accomondations. But don’t expect anything for under $100. I’m guessing your father a LONG time ago if you stayed in places for $20 a night.

Can a special education student refuse testing accommodations listed on their IEP?

accommodations

If they are in high school and under 18. I am looking for detailed info regarding the route/buses that will be needed to get there. Also looking for any recommendations on budget places to stay for the night and any other activities that can be done around there. Primarily we want to see the rice terraces, but I imagine that is not an all-day event. Also if anyone can give me an approximate travel time that would also be appreciated. Can this be done over a 2-day trip?

I am an American in the USA. We visited the Baguio-Banaue area several years ago as part of a tour arranged by Rajah Tours. We had a van, a driver and a tourguide assigned to us and they picked us up at the Manila airport upon our arrival. So I can’t tell you what roads to take to get there. But what I can tell you is that this area is definitely worth seeing. The roads go through many little villages and the condition of them was not great. So two days is going to be a rush-rush trip for you.

But Banaue, the rice terraces and particularly Hotel Banaue will be a great experience for you. The hotel serves brunch consisting of mainly native foods. They frequently have large events staged in their large lobby that feature native dancers, including indians which are plentiful in that province. In nearby Baguio, a cool weather area where strawberries and other such things grow that are not grown elsewhere in the Philippines, a weaving center called Easter Weavers is nice, and many other attractions. Also in nearby proximity are Bontok, where the Museum of the Mountain People is well worth your time to visit. Another place is the peaceful village of Bangaan where you can look down on it from the road on the mountain and see this primitive place where everything that enters or leaves is done so by people since there are no motorized vehicle’s.

Banaue is a center for hand-made wood carvings and furniture that you can buy for very reasonable prices. I wish we had the opportunity to return there and see everything again. Good luck and have fun.

How do you get Onyx accommodations on Halo:Reach at a low rank!?

accommodations

Just wondering as I seen a captain with a few Onyx accommodations and he was only a Captain or lower I Think! Same in Austria.
Is there anything like Motel6 there? How to find more economical accommodations in Europe?

I just would like to know what are the options overall?

Use a site like Hostelworld, http://www.hostelworld.com/ it will search all the accommodation from the cheapest. That is hostels where you would share with strangers, although some have single and double rooms too, up to hotels.

There are more sites like that, you find them when you google on hostels or cheap hotels and the name of the city you are interested in. It is easier to find this kind of booking sites when you search a midsized town, and read the reviews on the sites before you even consider a particular hotel or hostel. If all reviews are very positive it is not a real review site, it is a ‘plug your own hotel’ kind of site.

While you can book though these booking sites, you can also use it as a base for your own google search, I often enter the name and town, or even the address in google again and read the own website and reviews on several different sites.

Each country in Europe has small private hotels or small chains, and bed and breakfast places that offer cheaper accommodation, motels are available in some countries but not in all.
I know in France the cheapest kind is called Formule 1, it has motels in several different European countries but not in Italy or Austria: http://www.hotelformule1.com/gb/home/index.shtml
There might be like options in those countries too, but you really need to be traveling by car to make use of this kind of accommodation, as it is often on the edge of the cities, easy access from the motorway but hard to get to without a car.

Is there a website for student jobs in Hawaii at a resort where accommodations are paid for?

accommodations

I live in Canada but I would really love to take a job in hawaii at a resort where accommodations are paid for and they take canadian students.
