Have you never heard the term social commentary? Hostel is a clear depiction of American ignorance. Every character other than the Americans are purposely portrayed as gross stereotypes based on assumptions Americans hold. These movies label Americans as stupid in many such ways. That you missed that is astounding. If anything, the film is anti-American because look at the response it garnered from you. I agree with your sentiment, though: many Americans are brainwashed monkeys.

ppl over dramatic here – this director is brave cause he tends 2 snaf rather than just a scoopy horror movie – he shows everything – human orgins, Sex, drugs, torture, etc

I’ll admit that Roth isn’t the best filmmaker and his movies aren’t the best, but it his movies are fun and he has a great time making them! That’s what really counts.
