  • Mile High Club Grounded Jumbo Hostel

Instead of allowing the 30-year-old plane to be sold for scrap or be sent to rust in the desert, Oscar Dios has filled the Boeing 747-200 with 72 beds and opened it for business just outside Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport.

According to local reports, the plane was once owned by a Swedish company called Transjet, who used it to fly muslim pilgrims to Mecca, as well as doing charter flights around the world until it was grounded for “organisational problems” in 2002.

Its newly-fitted 25 rooms may only be 20 feet squared with nine-foot ceilings and have three bunks to a room, but they all have shared bathrooms and showers, heating and air conditioning, WiFi and – in a nod to the client base likely to be made up almost entirely of airport stopovers – flatscreen televisions that double as departure/arrival monitors. Dorms are divided up into male and female units, and there are larger rooms for families sharing.

For those hoping for a little more privacy or space, the deluxe cockpit suite on the upper floor boasts its own bathroom and stunning views of the runway.

The budget hostel also has a cafe where guests can buy breakfast and basic meals as well as heat up their own food.

The hotel opened at the beginning of December and a bunk bed costs from £30

      Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology and dinning:

      (1) What is the fun and enjoyment to dinning on aeroplane?

      (2) Why do we feel that meals on aeroplanes are so interesting and special?

      (3) How does a tasteful meal on aeroplane make us feel good for flying?

      (4) What kinds of nice memory does the taste recall/inspire you?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
