I have traveled around the world but have only usually stayed in Youth Hotels in Europe as lodging can get expensive there. In South East Asia I usually rented a hut or some budget hotel.
What are some of the best traits you have found in a youth hostel or a good budget traveler’s lodging?
One called the treehouse in Koh Chang had a great resturant with hammocks and a disco.
I mean what do you want in a youth hostel: scooters for rent? internet access? private rooms? a good dorm? good information about the area? outdoor activities? local and international food served?
Tell me about what made it a great place for you.
I stayed in the Sydney, Australia, youth hostel downtown about 7 years ago. It was great – modern, clean, ideally located, with internet access, snack shop, and lots of very cheery people, both aussies and others. That was my favorite.
