I don’t know about you but I did very very well in the 90′s paying 36%. Top marginal tax rate under Eisenhower was 52%, was life so bad then? The difference is that I’ve got enough that a few percentage points on my income is meaningless to my life style. Am I mad that those extra percentage points will go to pay for war debt not accounted for by the last administration. Absolutely. But the concept of taxation isn’t anathema to me.
