  • What kind of house plants are easy to take care of?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under house | 5 Comments »

I just moved into my very first house and I was thinking of getting some house plants for the the rooms in the house. I don’t have much of a green thumb and I don’t want to get fake plants because I think they are a little tacking. Any suggestions?

Cacti can take care of themselves you only need to water it everytime the soil gets dry ”test this by poking a pencil and see if the soil on it is dry.

Areca bamboo palm, lovely showy leaves and are very forgiving if you forget to water them. Aspidistra
aka ‘the cast iron plant’ will live anywhere. Aglaonema Silver has lovely leaf markings and also dead easy to take care of. I’m a plant lover….can you tell?

I started with pathos and mother in laws tongue and couldn’t kill either. Plus they need little care, take a lot of abuse and don’t need re-potting often. They both come with a variegated leaf variety so they add color and interest. Further, with pathos, once you get it established you can grow it as a vine or with a porous stake as an upright, then take cuttings, root and make more for no money.

Aloe vera is very easy to care for as it doesn’t need to be watered often.
