My boyfriend and I are moving cross country at the end of May and I was just wondering if hotel rooms tend to be cheaper if you have a reservation than if you just walked in. Anyone have experience with this?
There’s just no telling what price you’ll get — or if there will even be rooms available. The best thing to do, if possible, is to always choose and book a hotel room just as soon as you know that you’ll be traveling.
Let’s say you show up to a hotel and want a room for the night. You’ve got a 50/50 chance that there’s going to actually be a room available — is that a chance you want to take?
Now let’s say there is a room. They might give you a discount, if there are lots of rooms available at that particular time. If there’s not a lot of rooms open, they’ll probably charge you rack rate – or MORE!
Yeah, you’ll get the ocassional front desk person who is being nice — but lots of folks that work at night don’t have the authority to give discounts, so keep that in mind.

Yes, I know from personal experience as well.
If you need to book a room or any travel here
