  • Is it possible to work on an Indian reservation?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under reservation | 1 Comment »

I am 18 and looking to work specifically on the Rosebud Reservation, in South Dakota. Is it possible? What do I have to do to get into the reservation? Is it possible to work there long enough after the summer to learn the Sioux Language? Do they provide food and housing? What kind of jobs?

You are not going to want to hear this, but, my mother’s family has lived on the Pine Ridge Res line for many generations, and still do, I visit often. It is very close to the Rosebud Res, and I can tell you, it will be VERY difficult if not impossible to "get in to the Reservation".

It is not what you picture at all, and you really should take a trip to the area, spend some time there and see for yourself. I’m not going to go in to descriptions, but, it’s NOT like whatever picture you might have in your head.
